Mathopedia
Mathopedia, Level 1 and Mathopedia
Level 2 are designed like encyclopedias. Math skills are
condensed to one concept per page allowing students to get the
important points. Choose Level 1 or Level 2,
or both, to individualize instruction. Both books correlate with
each other page by page for ability and grade level mapping of
curriculum. These textbooks present math skills in a sequential
way from addition to pre-algebra concepts. The skills are aligned
to states' math standards to help raise student test scores on
state assessments. Math tricks aid retention to try to not leave
any child behind. The author has noted a significant increase
in her own students' math test scores after instruction with this
book.
These books are perfect for all ages dealing with
basic mathematics and are a great student textbook, teacher's
handbook, homeschooled children’s handbook, and/or reference
book. The sequence of the book promotes optimum learning as each
concept builds page by page. The teacher adds his or her own problems
to accompany the concepts.
The texts can be used in a consumable fashion or
reused from year-to-year. For the most favorable learning conditions,
students use the textbook as college students use their texts.
They record notes and highlight as directed by the teacher. It
is perfectly fine to reuse the book as other texts are used. Allow
students to use Mathopedia as a reference at any time.
Students with special needs may use the books during a test to
help them by looking over their sample problems. The same books
can be used the following year or switch to Level 2.
As the student progresses, use Mathopedia, Level
2. The concepts are presented exactly the same so students
relearn the same concepts every year in a different way. Continuity
between grade levels is important to help students progress faster
and with greater long-term retention. Both of these books are
available in transparency format, spiral bound, or perfect bound
books.
